State of affairs regarding assisting with local events The curriculum of the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation incorporates fieldwork in which students leave campus and go to the actual sites where issues actually arise to conduct surveys and research. In order to solve social issues and realize a better future society, it is necessary to learn the basics while gaining experience working with people with different points of view in the field. To achieve this end, we offer common undergraduate classes that students in all courses can take, such as 「Basic Seminar for Collaborative Approach」, 「Collaborative Works I~IV」, and 「Service Learning in Communities」, and multiple classes related to helping students become socially and professionally independent after graduation while developing the ability to tackle social issues. Through these classes, we aim to cultivate communication skills, leadership skills, and other skills beneficial for one’s career, and for becoming leaders (capable of solving problems) in creating a sustainable future. 「Basic Seminar for Collaborative Approach (1st year second semester)」 Through group activities, you will learn how to cooperate with others and the sequence of research. When tackling social issues, it is extremely important to go out into the field, interact with various participants, and discover and identify issues. It is also important to communicate the findings to others so that they can help solve future issues. In this class, students will experience a series of research procedures using photographic and geographical survey methods, and will acquire basic knowledge through presenting their results. 「Collaborative WorksⅠ(2nd year first semester)・Ⅱ(2nd year second semester)・Ⅲ(3rd year first semester)・Ⅳ(3rd year second semester)」 Through participation in the field, and by discovering and exploring social issues, our aim is to develop the ability to solve these problems. In particular, through collaboration with related parties in the field, students will gain practical experience and skills necessary to become collaborative and capable individuals. Specific themes are expected to include sports, art, coexistence/diversity, welfare, and the environment. 「Service Learning in Communities(2nd year second semester)」 Students will participate in collaborative activities carried out in regional “communities” led by local NPOs and town development organizations, and deeply learn about actual challenges through experiencing working together with local citizens.
