In principle, entries of calligraphy work for the exhibition and announcement of the results will be on online. 2. In principle, contact to the applicants will be conducted via the Entry Form or Email (including attachments). 3. Please note that prize winners and their calligraphy work will be announced and published on this website.(Thank you for your understanding.) 4. Information about this competition is available in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. However, we accept the Entry Form and emails written only in Japanese, English, or Chinese. Choose the topic of your choice. b. Use either Japanese or Chinese text. c. Kindergarten / Elementary School children: Examples of topics that we deem to be suitable for kindergarten or elementary school children can be found on the Penmanship Examples Webpage. The examples can be printed out. 2)Paper a. The work must be created using one of the 6 penmanship formats (select the appropriate one) which can be downloaded from the Penmanship Paper Webpage, and printed out. b. Alternatively, you can create your own frame for your work based on the formats shown on the Penmanship Paper Webpage. In that case, the paper size must be B5. 3)Writing tools a. Kindergarten: Use the writing tool of your choice (crayon or any kind of hard-point pen) b. Elementary School: Use a 2B or darker pencil c. Junior High School / Senior High School / General (University included): Use a pen with black ink. (You can use any type of pen except pencil.) 4)Writing down your name a. Kindergarten: It's your choice to write or not to write your name. b. Elementary School / Junior High School / Senior High School: Write your grade and name. c. General (University included): Write the place you live and your name. 2.Brush Writing 1)Topic a. Kindergarten: Choose the topic of your choice. b. Elementary School / Junior High School: Choose the topic of your choice. c. Senior High School: Choose the topic of your choice. We accept the entry for the imitation of classical calligraphy works (Rinsho) and seal engraving. d. General (University included): Choose the topic of your choice. However, entries must be the original work of the registered entrant.Entry for seal engraving is granted. e. Kindergarten and elementary school children are encouraged to create their work by referring to examples found on the Brush Writing Examples Webpage.The examples can be printed out. 2)Note a. Use either Japanese or Chinese text as much as possible. b. If you choose a language other than Japanese or Chinese, please provide the meaning of your calligraphy work in either Japanese, Chinese, or English. 3)Paper size No limit. Choose the size you need for your work. 4)Writing down your name a. Kindergarten: Write your name on the left side of the paper if you wish to write it. b. Elementary School / Junior High School: Write your grade and name on the left side of the paper. c. Senior High School/ General (University included): Sign your name or put your seal on a place you deem appropriate on the paper. 3.Character design 1)Topic a. Choose the topic of your choice. b. Entries must be your own original brush writing design or art work which resembles brush-stroke forms of characters. c. Three-dimensional and video works are also granted. d. Previous prize winners' works (1st to 8th) are available here. Please use them as a reference for your work. 2)Others a. This exhibition is open to anyone who wishes to take part. b. If you have any questions about a work you wish to enter or a method of sending your work, please contact the "Global Shodo at Yasuda" Office. [10]Entry Guidelines 1.Individual entry [Deadline: Friday, November 10, 2023] 1) All participants must use the online Entry Form to register for the exhibition. 2) Send the original work to the "Global Shodo at Yasuda" Office. 3) Fill out an Exhibition Form (or create your own exhibition form on paper similar in size and format), and attach it to your original work. 4) After posting your calligraphy work and Exhibition Form, please email our "Global Shodo at Yasuda" Office to inform us that you have sent it. Write your name and registration number on the subject line of your email. 2.Group Entry [Deadline: Friday, November 10, 2023] 1) The group representative must use the online Entry Form to register for the exhibition. 2) Download and fill out the Group Members' Information File, and send us as an attachment by email. 3) Send the original work to the "Global Shodo at Yasuda" Office. 4) Fill out an Exhibition Form (Alternatively, you can create your own exhibition form on paper similar in size and format), and attach it to your original work. 5) After posting the group's calligraphy work and Exhibition Forms, please email our "Global Shodo at Yasuda" Office to inform us that you have sent them. Write the name of the group representative and registration number on the subject line of your email. 3.Note 1. Participants may submit only one entry for each of the three categories. 2. Please note that works you submitted will not be returned. 3. If you cannot access the Entry Form for security reasons, please apply by email. [11]Prizes 1.Prizes 1) Exhibition Champions:Seven winners; a. Three from the Penmanship Category[One from Kindergarten/ Elementary School, one from Junior High School, and one from Senior High School/ General (University included)] b. Three from the Brush Writing Category [One from Kindergarten/ Elementary School, one from Junior High School, and one from Senior High School/ General (University included)] c. One from the Character Design Category 2) Other prizes: Grand, platinum, palladium, gold, silver, bronze, honorable mention, and merit 2.Results Announcement 1) All works that received prizes and their names will be announced on this website(only the exhibitors who made entries as individuals or groups, can view and print). 2) Commemorative gifts will be sent to the Exhibition Champions. 3) Works of the prize winners of "Exhibition Champions, Grand, Platinum, and Palladium" will be published with photographs. 4) An overview of works entered in this exhibition will be shown on this website. [12]Additional Information 1) The decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal. 2) The copyright in the work will belong to the exhibition organizer. 3) Personal information collected during the course of this exhibition will not be used for anything other than this international calligraphy exhibition. 4) Please do not submit calligraphy that was done in class.
