Indeed, the relevance to cancer is obvious since tumor progression often correlates with a dysregulation of inflammation. Tumor cells can escape immune surveillance by taking a passive advantage because of a disruption in this fine-tuned equilibrium between pro- and anti- inflammatory response. Resorbing of a tumor could be achieved by acting on pro- and/or anti- inflammatory signals to restore immune homeostasis.
