One code is assigned to each course in Osaka Prefecture University according to the attribute of the course. The Purpose and Necessity of Implementing Course Numbering By assigning numbers and codes to each course to clarify its academic field, difficulty level, class type, significance, and sequence in curriculum, it is expected to allow students to understand the significance of each course within the undergraduate/graduate curriculums, and to become an indication of which subject they should take on their study plan. It is also expected to allow students to identify what kind of academic fields and which level of courses they have studied so far by checking the codes of courses they have acquired. In addition, course numbering has been introduced in most universities in the United States, and is expected to facilitate credit transfers with overseas and other Japanese universities. Category of Subjects in Each Undergraduate / Graduate School / Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (7th digit) [1-9、A-Z] Numbering by Serial Number (8th-9th digit) [01-99] Regarding courses offered by each undergraduate / graduate school, serial numbers are assigned by each category of subjects which are assigned above (4). List of Language Codes (10th digit) [A-Z] One letter of the alphabet is used to indicate the language mainly used by the teacher.
